40 Years of Roshgold

Our beginning was humble. The company began its investment programme with 5 members who contributed R 100 p.m. The name Roshgold originates from the town where the group was incepted; Roshnee in Vereeniging and “Gold” because the very first investments made were in gold shares.

The Roshgold family had grown to over 500 shareholders across Transvaal and Natal.

Roshgold was nurtured modelled and developed into a sound investment group. Roshgold became a role model for many small syndicates and contributed to the business community through Roshgold News. The group’s investment focus shifted from passive to active private equity investor.

The group pursued business-related investments.

Roshgold’s achievements went beyond expectations with 1700 members and assets of R 50 million. Roshgold championed the cause of small investors. A unique Roshgold community was created, broadened horizons experienced self-growth with meaningful guest speakers contributing to economic and business development. The Hall of Fame was initiated to recognise those who made a meaningful contribution to Roshgold and the community.

Roshgold’s capital base is solid and continues to increase. The group’s strength lies in its strong cash position. Thirty years of toil, sacrifice, integrity and focus built and cemented a little investment club into a growing giant.

The Young Business Achievers Awards was launched and designed to recognize young entrepreneurs in shaping the world. In 2019 the YBAA has supported 250 young businesses that have been showcased or mentored.

The Group purchased valuable property with an office block to house its operation in Vereeniging.

The Group takes pride in a spotless record of integrity and accountability with Roshgold assets being sound at over R 500 million.
